CONSORTIUM
The project consortium has been carefully selected across a range of disciplines with the research topic in mind. In addition to comprising the required scientific expertise to ensure the successful delivery of the project, the consortium also encompasses an excellent geographical and cultural representation demonstrated by the following:
- The consortium outstandingly covers wider and complementary disciplines important for the research topic (e.g. regional economics, statistics and economics) in an excellent balance. Its Educational establishments, Research Institutes and SME have a long track record of EU funded collaborative research and they offer an excellent representation of Europe’s leading experts in food consumer research and policy. Four partners are based in WBC each with established networks of collaborating experts encompassing the entire WBC Region. Expert partners from neighbouring countries also participate. The involved individuals as a result of previous successful collaboration are fully committed to the delivery of the project.
- The project is headed by an Italian Coordinator with world class research record, experience in managing multi-partnered research projects and consolidated organizational experience.
- Co-ordination is supported by an excellent external advisory board. These combined with a coordinated approach will facilitate greater knowledge transfer and enable the delivery of expected outputs.
- Scientific partners: Strong expertise in industrial policy by SPRU and UKR is coupled with expertise by the coordinator team on anchors and clusters, and further complemented by Kaiserslautern and Gael advanced expertise on network analysis and Katowice experience is case study research – all these supported by a significant track record of publications.
- Public policy: SPRU and GAEL are among the most active and able to crystallise the input for suitable public policy with prominent experience on the matter.
- Industry: Partners KATOWICE and UKR are both located in eastern Europe and they have both managed to bridge research with the local industry. KATOWICE and UKR are actually among those institutions in their respective countries who are in a prime position to successfully take the right decisions and rightly implement the necessary actions for linking with local sectors. Important aspect is that both institutions generate major proportion of their income from industry contracts.
- Project management: Although the Consortium comprises an extremely experienced team, it is further strengthened by a Coordinator, who has developed an excellent track record in funded research projects and enhanced by 2 more WP Leaders (WP2-4) with great experience in coordinating international research projects and another WP leaders (WP3) with consolidated experience in organizing international conferences and workshops. All of them make an excellent group to manage the project and its constituent WPs. These are planned to be assisted by an excellent advisory board as well as a dedicated consultancy knowledgeable of EU research and project requirements.
In summary FRIDA’s research units are diverse but highly complementary. Their efforts will converge towards the accomplishments of the project objectives. This aim is substantiated and reinforced by an experience of workshops jointly coordinated by some of the partners and by the fact that the project originated from the interactions and meetings occurring within the FRIDA’s community of scholars.
